The Hell Creek Formation in eastern Montana is an intensely studied dinosaur fossil region. The Hell Creek Fossil Area used to be a flat, forested floodplain and was home to a large and varied group of sharks, alligators, dinosaurs (including Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops), lizards, snakes, fish, and few mammals. A collection of artifacts and skeletons can be seen at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana.
